Ruthmann presents the new STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid, the world’s first hybrid STEIGER® with a 7.49 t chassis at bauma 2022 in Munich

Based on the current and very successful STEIGER T 300 XS, RUTHMANN now offers the STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid the first hybrid truck-mounted aerial platform on a 7.49 t chassis. The STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid offers the same outstanding performance data: 30 meters working height, 23 meters outreach and 350 kg basket load on a compact 7.59 m chassis. The speed of the individual movements is almost identical to the STEIGER® T 300 XS.

Powerful hybrid drive without compromise

The RUTHMANN engineers have succeeded in designing the powerful hybrid with 12.8 KWh battery in such a way that the permissible GVWR of the STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid on MAN or IVECO chassis is still less than 7.5 tonnes. So, the machine can still be driven with the C1 driving license (class III in the past). The STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid is thus at the disposal of a large target group needing the robustness and top performance data of STEIGER® on 7.49 t chassis during daily work.

This can be done during journeys or without interrupting work via the mains connection with the standard CEE plug.

Convenient charging – even during STEIGER® operation

With its 12.8 KWh battery, the STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid achieves 13 full work cycles before it has to be charged. The STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid can be charged either during journeys or by connecting it to the main supply via the easily accessible charging socket with standard CEE plug. Due to the good experience made with the TB /TBR Hybrid STEIGER®, the T 300 XS Hybrid can also be charged during STEIGER® operation. This means fully new fields of application for the STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid, e.g., it can continue to be operated noiseless via mains supply during long building cleaning operations in courtyards This feature should also be a very interesting aspect for TV and film productions.

At any time, the operator has the possibility to change the type of drive. If the battery is empty and no mains supply is available, work can continue by means of the combustion engine. The standard charging time in idle state amounts to approx. 6 hours by being connected to a standard 230 V connection until the battery has recovered its full capacity again.

Alternatively, the STEIGER® T 300 XS is also available with a 400 V electric drive especially designed for operations near a mains connection. Also with this option, the permissible GVWR of the STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid thus remains below 7.5 t.

Compact truck-mounted aerial platform with unrivalled performance data

The performance data of STEIGER®s T 300 XS presented by RUTHMANN in June 2021 are still unrivalled in this class and are also available with the new STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid. With its length of 7.59 m, the new aerial platform is more than 60 cm shorter than its predecessor, the STEIGER® T 300 and is herewith the most compact 30 m aerial platform on a 7.49 t chassis on the market. The new STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid also achieves 23 m outreach – a full 2 meters more than the previous generation.

This was achieved by an optimised and more stable boom profile and the more compact boom heads of the STEIGER® T 300 XS range having made their proof in a similar form on the RUTHMANN STEIGER® T 900 HF. For the first time, two telescopic cylinders are now mounted in the high-strength construction made of fine-grained steel in order to extend the telescope. The telescope profile had hereby been further optimized. Likewise, the energy chain STEIGER® T 300 XS runs inside the telescope on top on the telescope extensions which leads to a more compact telescope construction.

Convenient jack control panel with screen at eye level

Also, on the „ground“, the STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid offers many proven innovations. For example, the new jack control panel which is very popular in the TB / TBR range is mounted as standard. The STEIGER®s T 300 XS Hybrid can be stabilized via the electric drive or the combustion engine. The new control panel is optimally integrated at eye level on the chassis and, besides reliable stabilization variants and convenience functions, offers a practicable stabilization of the machine from the vehicle at all times. Clear, easily recognizable switches exchanging their colours never let the operator be left in the dark.

More basket load and proven handling

Thanks to the stable new telescope design, the basket load has also been increased by a further 30 kg up to a maximum of 350 kg on the STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid.

The well-known working basket from the T range is compatible with other baskets from the same range. The modern RUTHMANN Cockpit is used, with a lots of convenience functions and real-time readable operation data. It provides the operator all relevant data at all times.

The STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid can also be equipped with all working baskets of the range, e.g., tree-pruning or insulated working baskets or also the wide 2.1 m working basket. As is usual with RUTHMANN, this can be carried out by two people in just a few steps.

Multi-chassis concept

RUTHMANN also relies on the multi-chassis concept for the STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid. The aerial platform can be mounted on different 7.49 to 8.6 t chassis from Mercedes-Benz, MAN, or Iveco. Mounted on 7.49 t MAN or IVECO chassis, the STEIGER® T 300 XS Hybrid can be driven with a C1 driving license (class III in the past).
